Do you know What's Up With Kids!
The Spring issue of "What's Up With Kids!" is now available online. "What's Up With Kids!" is a publication of the Youth Services Department, written by kids, for kids.
The "What's Up With Kids!" editors are always looking for book reviewers, artists and reporters. If you're in grades 2-6 and would like to see your work in print and online, contact Gerri or call the Youth Services Department, 630-529-1641 x351.
The next organizational meeting of "What's Up With Kids!" will be Thursday, April 22, 6:30 pm, in the Youth Services Storytime Room. No experience necessary. Be there!

Coming Soon! Friends of the Library Spring Book Sale
The Friends of the Roselle Public Library announces their annual Spring Book Sale on Saturday, March 27, 2010. The book sale will be held in the Roselle Public Library Meeting Room, 40 South Park Street, Roselle, IL from 9:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Hardcover books are available at $1.00 each. Paperback books cost $.50 each. Funds raised from this and other sales hosted by the Friends of the Roselle Public Library help support various Library programs, including Summer Reading programs for all ages and the popular Grandparents Got Game. Mark your calendar for Saturday, March 27, 2010 from 9:30 to 3:00pm for the Friends of the Roselle Public Library Book Sale!

Employment Opportunity; Youth Services Department Head
The Roselle Public Library is accepting applications for the position of Youth Services Department Head. The ideal candidate is someone who is able to be flexible, loves working with children (infants through entering 6th grade) and adults of all ages, is creative and open to new ideas, and willing to be a team player and a management partner. This position requires the successful candidate to have great people skills and a dedication to service, communication skills, and a high energy level.

Musical Sunday & Welcome Reception for New Executive Director
Plan to spend Sunday afternoon at the Library on March 14! Beginning at 1:30 p.m., Trillium will perform "The Moody Leprechaun," a special Celtic-themed program. This band has played at many Chicagoland libraries, pubs, and festivals. Come and get an early start on St. Patrick's Day. There may be a little luck in your pot!
After the performance, stay to meet and welcome Amy Cawley, the Library's new Executive Director. Patron's may know "Miss Amy" as the former Youth Services Department Head.

Meet Dinosaur Discoverer Dr. Matt Bonnan
Saturday, March 13, Dr. Bonnan visits the Roselle Public Library to present two programs, sharing information about his work as a paleobiologist and his part in the discovery of a new dinosaur species, Aardonyx celestae.
Dr. Bonnan grew up in Roselle, attending local schools and graduating from Lake Park High School in 1991. He now teaches at Western Illinois University in Macomb, Illinois.
Dr. Bonnan will present a program for children, grades K-4 from 10:30 a.m.-Noon. A program for older children, grades 6 and up, and adults will be presented in the afternoon, 2:30-4:00 p.m.

New Executive Director Announced
The Roselle Public Library District Board of Trustees announced that Amy Cawley has accepted the position of Executive Director of the Library. Cawley has a Masters of Library and Information Science degree from Dominican University and a Bachelor of General Studies from Roosevelt University.
Cawley has served as the Youth Services Department Head at the Library for the past seven years. Previously she was Youth Services Librarian in the Bartlett Public Library District. As Youth Services Department Head, Cawley expanded many program offerings and is well-known in the Roselle community. Upon her appointment to Executive Director, Cawley, known to many as "Miss Amy", stated, "I am honored to be able to continue to serve the Roselle community in the capacity as Executive Director of the Roselle Public Library District. I will work diligently to continue the excellent services the library now provides."
