Page | Public Services Assistant


This entry level position is 8 hours per week and requires availability to work a flexible schedule including weekend and evening hours. The rate of pay for this position is $8.25 per hour. There are no benefits for this position.

This position involves shelving of Library materials, maintenance of order on shelves, and basic customer service. Must be able to lift, bend, stretch, carry materials, and push/maneuver a fully-loaded book cart.

Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent required or must be working toward same; with the ability to pass test for alphabetical and numerical sequencing in accordance with Dewey Decimal System.

The Roselle Public Library District seeks a part-time Public Services Assistant to work an average of 15 hours per week, primarily evening and weekend hours. This position pays $13.21 per hour. This is a paraprofessional position in the Adult Services Department. This position deals directly with the public in computer use including troubleshooting hardware and software programs for patrons, basic reference and reader’s services, assisting patrons in Adult Services in the absence of an Adult Services Librarian, processing Interlibrary Loan requests, document notarization, and other varied responsibilities. The ideal candidate will also be able to lead our popular and growing Chess programming, designed for adults, teens, and children.

Minimum qualifications are two years of college, LTA preferred. Also required is a minimum of two years appropriate work experience in a public contact position and knowledge of PC hardware/software and bibliographic databases including the Internet.
