Public Services Assistant

The Roselle Public Library District seeks a part-time Public Services Assistant to work an average of 15 hours per week, primarily evening and weekend hours. This position pays $14.48 per hour. This is a paraprofessional position in the Reference and Adult Services Department. This position deals directly with the public in computer use, bibliographic instruction, and basic ready reference along with registering new patrons and renewing existing patrons. Responsibilities also include troubleshooting computers, printers, and other library equipment.

Minimum qualifications are two years of college, LTA and two years of college preferred. Also required is a minimum of two years appropriate work experience in a public contact position and knowledge of PC hardware, software and bibliographic databases including the Internet.

Adult Services Reference Librarian

FULL TIME 37.5 hr/wk

The Adult Services Department seeks an experienced, enthusiastic, and energetic librarian. The ideal candidate has prior experience working with the public as well as a demonstrated teambuilding spirit. If you feel comfortable working with all ages, like to think on your feet, and technology is your friend, this position may be for you! This position is designed to partner with our Youth Services Department to help Roselle youth comfortably bridge from using Youth Services through the Teen area and into our Adult Services Department and so spends some time working in the Youth Services Department. Candidates should expect at least 80% of the time will be spent focusing on adult services. A broad knowledge of current library practices is a must. This position requires the flexibility to work days, evenings, and weekend rotation.

MLIS preferred; Current Master’s Degree in Library Science candidates may be considered with prior library experience. Recent graduates and tech-savvy librarians are encouraged to apply.

Compensation starting at $19.75 per hour.

Youth Services Librarian/Assistant-Outreach

Part-time position (25 hrs per week)
Compensation starting at $19.75 per hour

Does your ideal work day include reader’s advisory for kids in an active environment? Are you organized and conscientious about details? Are you passionate about children’s literature? Enjoy presenting storytimes and creating crafts? Like to blog? Is performing and presenting to groups outside the Library your thing? Are you comfortable enough with e-resources and technology? Do you work well with a team? If this describes you the Roselle Public Library seeks an enthusiastic, creative and team-oriented Outreach Assistant for the Youth Services Department.

The successful candidate has great people skills and a dedication to providing outreach services to local schools and daycares, for special library events and appearances at community functions.


Minimum qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree with library training (may include coursework leading to a MLIS) with a minimum of one-year experience in a Youth Services Department of a public library. Possession of a Master’s Degree in Library and Information Science from an ALA accredited library education program is preferred.

Highly flexible work schedule including regularly scheduled evening and weekend hours. 

This position offers IMRF benefits and pro-rated holidays.  After a waiting period this position offers paid vacation and sick hours.
