June 20, 2015 - LOOKING FOR SOMETHING TO DO WITH THE GRANDKIDS THIS SUMMER? CHECK OUT ROSELLE PUBLIC LIBRARY’S “GRANDPARENTS GOT GAME” PROGRAMS!
This summer Roselle Public Library will offer the ‘Grandparents Got Game!’ drop-in programs where grandparents or grand-friends can play, create, and explore with their grandchildren.  ‘Grandparents Got Game!” is held Wednesday afternoons (1:30-3:00 p.m.) through August 5.  Each session features tables of board games, crafts, snacks and fun science activities. June 20, 2015 - TEENS GET CREATIVE WITH PAINT TO THE RHYTHM PROGRAM AT ROSELLE PUBLIC LIBRARY
On Thursday, July 9, 2015 from 2:30 – 4:00 p.m. students in grades 6 – 12 will get creative when art instructor Christine Thornton returns to Roselle Public Library to teach “Paint to the Rhythm.”  No art experience is necessary. June 20, 2015 - TEENS MAKE HULA-HOOPS AT ROSELLE PUBLIC LIBRARY
Students in grades 6 -12 will make and decorate their very own hula-hoop at Roselle Public Library on Tuesday, July 14, 2015 at 2:00 p.m.  Participants will learn about hula-hooping as a pastime and a fitness craze as they create and decorate a handcrafted hula-hoop. Can you hear it now…start tapping your feet, “Read to the Rhythm” and dance to the beat.

June 20, 2015 - Youth Services Summer Storytime Sessions
The second summer session of Storytime Programs at the Roselle Public Library begins Tuesday, July 7 and continues through Thursday, July 23.  The session theme is “Music Makes Me Dance!” Registration began on Tuesday, May 27.
Sessions are divided up by age group and children must be the required minimum age by the date the program session begins.  Choose the one that is right for you and your child! 

- “Tots & Tykes”, Tuesdays 11:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. (6-19 months) with parent participation.

- “Toddler Tales”, Tuesdays 10:00 – 10:30 a.m. (20-35 months) with parent participation. 

- “Preschool Storytime”, Wednesdays 10:00 -10:30 a.m. (ages 3-5 years). 

Two drop-in Storytime sessions are held during the week and are open for families with children of all ages.  They are held on Tuesdays, 6:30-7:00 p.m. and Thursdays, 10:30-11:00 a.m.  No registration is required for the drop-in sessions.

June 20, 2015 - Youth Services Color Contest!
Coloring contest for all ages this summer at the Roselle Public Library!  Stop by the Youth Services Department to pick up your coloring sheet.  Return your work to the “Ask Me” desk for display.  Winners will be chosen on August 1 and notified by phone.  Several winners will be selected to receive a special prize!  No registration required.

Read to a Dog will take place this July at the Roselle Public Library.  Children, ages 5-12, experience reading aloud to a certified therapy dog!  This is a wonderful opportunity to build a special bond with a dog, improve confidence, and sharpen reading skills.  Bring a favorite book of your choice or read a book from the Library.  Read to a Dog sessions are Mondays, July 13, 20, and 27 from 4:00 – 5:00 p.m.  Registration begins Monday, June 22

May 20, 2015 - OSTEOPOROSIS SCREENING OFFERED AT ROSELLE PUBLIC LIBRARY
On Tuesday, June 23, 2015 from 3:00 – 7:00 p.m. nurses from Alexian Brothers will conduct osteoporosis screenings for women and men over 35.  Registration is required for this program. May 20, 2015 - ROSELLE PUBLIC LIBRARY OFFERS BABYSITTER TRAINING WORKSHOP
Learn how to be an A+ babysitter at the Roselle Public Library’s Babysitter Training Workshop held on Friday, June 26 from 10:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. and Saturday, June 27, 2015 from10:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.  This 2-day course will cover all aspects of babysitting.  Students must be between the ages of 10 and 16.  A non-refundable $5.00 fee is due at registration.  Those interested should register at the library’s Circulation Desk.  Class size is limited.  For more information about the workshop, call (630) 529-1641 ext. *211. May 6, 2015 - MARCH WITH THE ROSELLE PUBLIC LIBRARY IN 2015 ROSE PARADE
The Roselle Public Library’s staff and supporters will be marching in the June 7, 2015 Rose Parade.  The Library’s float features the summer reading program theme, “Read to the Rhythm!”  All library users are invited to join the library float and walk with us in the parade.  Those interested should call (630)529-1641 ext. *222 to register for the event beginning May 1.  Children 10 years old and younger must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.  The Roselle Public Library is located at 40 S. May 6, 2015 - STAY COOL AND ENJOY A MOVIE MUSICAL MARATHON AT ROSELLE PUBLIC LIBRARY
Stay cool while some of the best movie musicals from the Sixties are screened at the Roselle Public Library on Saturday, June 13, 2015 from 9:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.  in the library atrium. May 6, 2015 - MASTER GARDENERS ANSWER YOUR GARDENING QUESTIONS AT ROSELLE PUBLIC LIBRARY
The DuPage County Master Gardeners Help Desk returns to the Roselle Public Library this spring and summer to answer gardening questions. Gardening experts from the University of Illinois Extension Services will be on hand in the Library from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Mondays, June 15, July 20 and August 17, 2015. There is no registration required for the sessions.

Information on annual and perennial flowers, trees, lawn care and other horticulture issues will be available.  The Master Gardeners are a group of volunteers trained by University of Illinois Extension educators to provide a network of gardening and horticulture programs to educate the public.  All information provided is based on research from the University of Illinois.

May 6, 2015 - ROSELLE PUBLIC LIBRARY HOSTS TIE-DYE EVENT FOR TEENS 
Students in grades 6 – 12 can celebrate summer with a Tie-Dye! Program at the Roselle Public Library on Monday, June 15, 2015.  There will be a program session from 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. and another session from 2:00 – 3:00 p.m.  Please register for only one session.  All tie-dying supplies will be provided by Roselle Library.  Participants should bring an item to be tie-dyed such as a white t-shirt, or other white article of clothing (sweatshirt, socks, or tank tops). April 20, 2016 - ROSELLE PUBLIC LIBRARY’S MUSICAL SUNDAY CONCERT FEATURES CONCERT PIANIST KIMBERLY DAVIS
The Roselle Library’s Musical Sunday performance on Sunday, May 17, 2015 at 1:30 p.m. will feature concert pianist Kimberly Davis.  Ms. Davis will entertain us with a special program of works by Latin American composers. Patrons may enjoy a cup of coffee and cookies while they sit and listen to the program in the library’s atrium area or go about their usual library activities.  No registration is required. Students in grades 6 – 12 are invited to come celebrate Free Comic Book Day at the Library on Saturday, May 2, 2015.  Kick things off with an all-day Marvel Movie Marathon in the Teen Area starting at 9:30 a.m., check out a local artist at work in the afternoon, and receive a free comic book for checking out something from the Library.  Want to add to the fun? “What’s Up With Kids!” is the Youth Services sponsored newsletter written by and for kids.  Write original articles, poetry, book reviews and stories.  Submit original illustrations.  See your work in print!  Kids going into grades 2-6 are invited to participate.  The “What’s Up With Kids!” organizational meeting is Thursday, April 17 from 6:30 – 7:30 p.m.  The article submission meeting is Thursday, February 26 from 6:30 – 7:30 p.m.  No registration required.

Attention all you Lego Lovers ages 4-12 . . . Drop by the Roselle Public Library on your day off school for Lego, My LEGO.  Lego, My LEGO will take place on Saturday, April 25th from Noon-2 p.m. Build amazing structures, places, or things that have never been seen!  Legos will be provided. Finished creations will be placed on display in Youth Services.

The Spring session of Storytime Programs at the Roselle Public Library begins Tuesday, March 17 and continues through Thursday, April 23rd.  The session theme is “ROAD BLOCK.” 
Registration begins Monday, March 2nd.
Sessions are divided up by age group and children must be the required minimum age by the date the program session begins.  Choose the one that is right for you and your child! 

·    “Tots & Tykes”, Tuesdays 11:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. (6-19 months) with parent participation. 

·    “Toddler Tales”, Tuesdays 10:00 – 10:30 a.m. (20-35 months) with parent participation. 

·    “Preschool Storytime”, Wednesdays 10:00-10:30 a.m. or 1:00-1:30 p.m (ages 3-5 years). 

·    Two drop-in storytime sessions are held during the week and are open for families with children of all ages.  They are held on Tuesdays, 6:30-7:00 p.m. and Thursdays, 10:30-11:00 a.m.  No registration is required for the drop-in sessions.

April 1, 2015 - National Library Week Kick off at Roselle Public Library
The Roselle Public Library begins National Library Week 2015 with a special Musical Sunday event honoring our volunteers, “Gems” of the Roselle Community, who give of their time and talents to help out at the Library.  The “Volunteer Musical Sunday” program featuring singer-guitarist Jim Bartholomew performing favorite classic pop and folk songs takes place on Sunday, April 12 from 1:30-3:30 p.m. in the Adult Services area of the Library.  Everyone is invited to attend and celebrate our Volunteers.

The Friends of the Roselle Public Library will hold their annual spring Book Sale the same weekend – on Saturday, April 11 from 9:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. and on Sunday April 12 from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m.  in the Library’s meeting rooms, at 40 S. Park Street, Roselle, Illinois.  Help fund the annual summer reading programs for children, families, teens and adults at the Roselle Public Library by supporting the Friends of the Roselle Public Library  – and pick up a couple of books to read, give as gifts, or maybe use to make craft items.  Fiction, non-fiction, books for children, along with Music CDs and DVDs will be available for a donation to the Friends.  Suggested donations are $1.00 for hardcover and 50 cents for paperbacks.

The Roselle Public Library’s Musical Sunday on January 25, 2015 will feature guitarist and singer Tom Malouf performing "Poems, Prayers, and Promises" a tribute to one of America's all-time great singer-songwriters, John Denver. This Musical Sunday performance is the kickoff event for the Library's Diamond Jubilee activities.  Come enjoy the great music and help celebrate 75 years of library service in the Roselle community.

In December the Roselle Public Library will host two events offering information about health insurance options through Get Covered Illinois, the official health marketplace.  An information table at the library on Monday, December 1, 2015 from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. will be staffed by Enroll DuPage navigators from DuPage County Health Department to provide general information about the Get Covered Illinois Health Marketplace and the 2015 open enrollment period.  Anyone with more in depth questions will want to attend an educational seminar, on Monday, December 8, 2015 at 7:00 p.m. when Enroll DuPage navigators will answer your questions about health insurance options under Get Covered Illinois, the Affordable Care Act, and Medicaid.  Registration is suggested for the December 8 seminar. The second fall session of Storytime Programs at the Roselle Public Library begins Tuesday, November 4, and continues through Thursday, December 11.  The session theme is “Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star”.  Registration begins Monday, October 20.
Sessions are divided up by age group and children must be the required minimum age by the date the program session begins.  Choose the one that is right for you and your child! 

·     “Tots & Tykes”, Tuesdays, 11:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. (6-19 months) with parent participation. 

·     “Toddler Tales”, Tuesdays, 10:00 – 10:30 a.m. (20-35 months) with parent participation. 

·     “Preschool Storytime”, Wednesdays, 10:00-10:30 a.m. or 1:00-1:30 p.m. (ages 3-5 years). 

·     Two drop-in Storytime sessions are held during the week and are open for families with children of all ages.  They are held on Tuesdays, 6:30-7:00 p.m. and Thursdays, 10:30-11:00 a.m.  No registration is required for the drop-in sessions.

October 6, 2014 - CELEBRATE TRAINS AT ROSELLE PUBLIC LIBRARY’S MODEL RAILROAD SHOWCASE
Celebrate trains at the Roselle Public Library’s annual Model Railroad Showcase on Saturday, November 1, 2014 from 9:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. and Sunday, November 2, 2014 from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m.  Model railroading enthusiasts display collections, running layouts and railroad memorabilia for this popular family event.  The Showcase features extensive running layouts operated by the Midwest Division of Train Collectors Association, the Northwest Trainmasters, and The British Train Society, exhibits from the Illinois Railway Museum, the Milwaukee Road Historical Society, and the Chicago & Northwestern Historical Society as well as layouts from local hobbyists. The first fall session of Storytime Programs at the Roselle Public Library begins Tuesday, September 9 and continues through Thursday, October 16. The session theme is “Do You see what I SEA?”
Registration begins Monday, August 25.
Sessions are divided up by age group and children must be the required minimum age by the date the program session begins. Choose the one that is right for you and your child!

  • “Tots & Tykes”, Tuesdays 11:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. (6-19 months) with parent participation.

  • “Toddler Tales”, Tuesdays 10:00 – 10:30 a.m. (20-35 months) with parent participation.

The DuPage County Master Gardeners Help Desk returns to the Roselle Public Library this summer to answer gardening questions. Gardening experts from the University of Illinois Extension Services will be on hand in the Library from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Monday, August 18, 2014. There is no registration required for the session.
Information on annual and perennial flowers, trees, lawn care and other horticulture issues will be available. The Master Gardeners are a group of volunteers trained by University of Illinois Extension educators to provide a network of gardening and horticulture programs to educate the public. July 20, 2014 - BOOK DISCUSSIONS RESUME AT ROSELLE LIBRARY IN SEPTEMBER
Two of Roselle Public Library’s book discussion groups will resume meeting in September. The Adult Book Discussion group meets on the third Tuesday of each month beginning on September 16 at 7:00 p.m. in the library meeting room when the group will discuss Saving Fish from Drowning by Amy Tan. The Men’s Book Discussion group meets on the third Monday of each month beginning on September 15, at 7:00 p.m. The book for the Men’s Book Discussion will be The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier & Clay by Michael Chabon.
Discussion groups meet every month in the library from September through November and January through May. New members may stop by the Reference Desk to register. July 6, 2014 - LOOKING FOR FUN ACTIVITIES TO SHARE WITH THE GRANDKIDS THIS SUMMER? CHECK OUT “GRANDPARENTS GOT GAME” PROGRAMS AT ROSELLE PUBLIC LIBRARY!
This summer Roselle Public Library will offer the ‘Grandparents Got Game!’ drop-in programs where grandparents or grand-friends can play, create and explore with their grandchildren. ‘Grandparents Got Game!” is held Wednesday afternoons (1:30-3:00 p.m.) from June 11 through August 6. Each session features tables of board games, crafts, snacks and fun science activities. This program is funded by The Friends of the Roselle Public Library.

July 6, 2014 - MASTER GARDENERS ANSWER YOUR GARDENING QUESTIONS AT ROSELLE PUBLIC LIBRARY
The DuPage County Master Gardeners Help Desk returns to the Roselle Public Library this spring and summer to answer gardening questions. Gardening experts from the University of Illinois Extension Services will be on hand in the Library from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Mondays: July 21 and August 18, 2014. There is no registration required for the sessions.
Information on annual and perennial flowers, trees, lawn care and other horticulture issues will be available. The Master Gardeners are a group of volunteers trained by University of Illinois Extension educators to provide a network of gardening and horticulture programs to educate the public. All information provided is based on research from the University of Illinois.

July 6, 2014 - TEEN CRAFTERS GET TOGETHER TO KNIT AT ROSELLE PUBLIC LIBRARY
New and experienced crafters, in grades 6 – 12, are invited to get together to knit and crochet at the Roselle Public Library’s Teen Knits club. Teen Knits will meet Monday, August 11, 2014 from 2:30 – 4:00 p.m. in the library conference room. Knitting supplies are provided as well as refreshments. Students can join the group at any time.
